which book should i get?

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Hi

They're both very good - I'm not sure I could say which one was "better". I do rather like John Walkenbach's book's structure though - I think it probably flows a little better than Bill's (but this is a totally personal thing - the upshot is I don't think you can go wrong with either).

Another book I really like is:

Programming Excel with VBA and .NET, by J Webb

This is very comprehensive and has a lot of detail. Not sure I would recommend this as a first book though - I think the two you've already mentioned are better for that.

I am recent to VBA also. I bought Excel 2003 VBA by Kimmel, Green, Bullen, Bovey, Rosenberg, and Patterson, published by WROX. It is over my head. It gives a lot of information about what can be done and examples of code. If you want to simply copy what they did it is fine. But if you want to build on their examples, it is short on making it clear to me how the instructions work so I can edit to make it do what I want. Therefore, I would not recommend it to any beginners.

Best regards,
