what version of access is being used

I am trying to determine what version of Access is being used from a file that I obtained from a user. Everything I clicked on does not say what version of Access is being used. The extension name of the file is .MDB. The original version of the file I am accessing was created in 2001. Thus would you tell me how to verify what version of Access I am working with?

MDB is earlier than 2007, ACCDB is the current format. You can save as an earlier version but not as a later one if you have up to 2003 only.

It doesn't really matter. The file format .MDB should work fine for any version of Access, generally speaking. If the file can't be used, Access will probably warn you when you try to open it.

According to this, it can't be done:

but as xenou said, an MDB created in any version of Access should be ok. At the worst, recently added features won't be included. You can update in a later format and save it as such.
