what to say when you filter something?

Hi
I have a column which has lets say 5 depts: hr, it, sales, marketing, and admin. If I want to see only hr dept. I apply filter and then select HR. What this called? Filtering all other departments except HR, OR filtering HR and leave other departments. Thank you very much.

It's a bit confusing....but put simply.
Single filter
OR
Multiple filter
