What is the "view-source" page?

If the BB Code toggle is off, the Ctrl+u will underline the selection. But if it is on, it causes a new web page to be created with "view-source:" prefixed to the URL. What is this? Is it anything I would ever need or use? And, if not, can I disable it and make Ctrl+u just be a NO-OP if BB Codes are on?

If BB code is on, then the following shortcut keys execute the associated editor command:

• Ctrl + u: Underline
• Ctrl + b: Bold
• Ctrl + i: Italic
• Ctrl + s: Strike-through
• Ctrl + k: Insert link

(Ctrl => Cmd in Mac OS)

Hover your mouse pointer over the editor menu commands to see the shortcut keys. The following screenshot has been taken on a Mac, so it should say Ctrl U in Windows.

If BB code is off, then the editor commands are disabled, the browser shortcut keys are not overwritten by the editor, and the actual browser action is executed: Ctrl + U is generally the "View Page SoUrce" browser command (default in Chrome and Edge at least). It has nothing to do with the forum software, perhaps you can disable the shortcut in the browser settings or by using some extensions.

The page source is the HTML source code of the website page that you are viewing in the browser.
