I like to present my applications in Page Break Preview so that the users can navigate more readily. But I do not want the "PAGE 1" "PAGE 2" etc. watermarks in the way. How do I get rid of them?

EXCEL 97 on Windows 95 and 98 over a LAN and on some stand alones.

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
what do you mean "navigate more readily?" what is it you don't like about normal view?

I use Excel for an employee Time, Attandance and assignment scheduling program

Each shift has their own tab where they mark the employees on or off and what the reasons for not being at work are. Like Sick, Vacation, Traing day etc.

Each of these pages is in WYSWYG format. The users use them the same way they would if it was pen and paper. I use Page Preview so that the users see the pages exactly as they will see the printed copy. The level of users range from Bill Gates Jr. types to people who should not be allowed to sharpen a pencil. Thus all the automation.

I have found that some of the users are annoyed by the PAGE 1 watermark and I would like to maintain the WYSWYG format but remove the watermark so that the information behind it is not shaded and therefor slightly difficult to read.

Couldn't you use the "Zoom" Feature to recreate what the Page Preview is using?

For example...

Select your print area
Click on View -> Zoom and choose "Fit Selection"
Click on Tools -> Options -> View and uncheck gridlines (This only hides excels grids, and not borders you have created)
Select the rows and columns that aren't part of the print area and make them a gray color.

Then you could set up protection to only allow users to select and enter data into certain cells.

you could just hide the unused columns and had borders to define your page.
If there are times when you want to see the entire sheet, you could set up Custom Views.

Each of the "Pages" is set up as an individual PrintArea. When the user selects "Print this Package" from my Menu the print areas are sent, one at a time, to the printer thus causing each page to print to the full page. If I did not do it this way EXCEL would cause the pages to print scaled to the largest page. This causes the STATS page to print VERY SMALL.

I have 21 facilities of varing sizes and three shifts in each facility. The pages have to be scaleable to meet these needs. The smallest facility has nine people on on third shift. The largest has 152 on on First shift. They all use the same program. If a supervisor transfers from one unit to another no retraining is required to do the scheduling.

The program will add/delete rows to the attendance page as needed should staffing levels change.

The STATS page sits just below the attendance page. The Overtime tracking page sits below and to the Right. I had to do this as the Column widths on the OT Tracking page are not the same as those on the Attandance roster itself. I limit the scroll area so the users cannot scroll off the working area and password protect the cells they are not allowed to touch. In addition I have a routine that sends the active cell two down and two over if they try to click on a restricted cell, password on or not. (MSGBOX "Can't touch This"). I disable all menu items I do not want them to use and have a routine that resets all these should they try to EXIT then CANCEL to get around the Automation.

Thus the format of the program prevents the utilization of either of your suggestions. It seems to me as I look at the pages that the PAGE 1 watermark is a feature that is not very usefull in my situation and it would be nice if I could eliminate it.

if you are working with excel 2003 you simply insert an a shape such as a box. Make sure it is white or w/e color your back ground is - make sure the "order" of the object is set to "backwards" or behind text and there ya go. no more annoying watermark.

Actually as the name indicates page breaking view, it shows your print preview of page and number of page as a water mark. If you just only want to remove water mark it is not possible in print preview option.
But what you can do is I am explaining in simple steps.
1. Set your page print area in print preview.
2. Now turn back to Normal view.
3. You will see dotted lines for the print area of pages.
4. Now as a example your print area is A column to J column select complete k column.
5. After selecting K column use shift control and right arrow key to select entire column of the sheet from k to XFD
6.Now by right clicking on the selecting column you get the option hide click on it.
7.all the column will hide.
8.Now do same with the rows.
Now as a example your print area is 1 row to 500 rows select complete 501 row.
9. After selecting 501 row use shift control and down arrow key to select entire rows of the sheet from 501 to 1048576 in excel 2010
6.Now by right clicking on the selecting rows you get the option hide click on it.
7.all the rows will hide.
8. The view of the sheet will be like a print preview and without any water mark.
Hope this will solve the purpose.
