I need help with vlookup, I want to be able to type the first letters of a word in and have all matching words come up in the dropdown list, any help would be appreciated thanks.

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Hello,

Your question raises several points :

1. You do NOT need help with Vlookup

2. What you are looking for is a feature called Autocomplete

3. The first step would be a Formula to generate your matches

4. A second step would be to populate your validation list

5. Are you planning to work with a UserForm or directly into a worksheet ...?

James 006 - unfortunately you are talking language i don't understand!! , I am new to excel .
I have a checklist on sheet 1 and a list of items on sheet 2.
each job has a list of items to be allocated to it so when I type the first few letters in the cell I want the dropdown list to show all the items that match the letters typed in , then I want to be able to select the suitable item , click on it so it appears in the cell, and so on until all the items required for the job are in the checklist on sheet 1.
