I am trying to create a formula that searches for an account and if it cannot be found to enter a zero. My formula keeps giving me an error.

=-VLOOKUP("4050-1040",TrialBalance,5,0)

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Try

=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP("4050-1040",TrialBalance,5,FALSE)),0,VLOOKUP("4050-1040",TrialBalance,5,FALSE))

Hi Luis
Welcome to the board

Remark: you should always post your excel version.

If you have excel 2007 or later, try:

=IFERROR(-VLOOKUP("4050-1040",TrialBalance,5,0),0)
