I have this code below & it works to password protect the sheet, but the cells are still locked to format. Any suggestions what I am missing?

Sheets("Cell_Data").Protect Password:="password", AllowFormattingCells:=True

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
The code allows me to format cells (eg Bold , background or font colour, borders etc)
Could you have some other code somewhere (eg event code) that is applying protection without allowing formatting?
