I have a column containing Given Names sorted into alphabetical order and want to find the first name starting with, say, "V". I do not want to find, say, "STEVEN" which contains a "V" but not as the first char. Assistance with a macro to do this please.

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Code:
Sub FindFirstChar()
Dim findChar As String, c As Range
findChar = InputBox("Find First")
Set c = Range("A:A").Find(findChar & "*", , , xlWhole)
If Not c Is Nothing Then c.Select
End Sub
