Why does this not delete the column contents below the "promptmonth" cell?

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Thank you, but that came back with a debug error, "range failed". Do you know why that is?

It works for me. Are you sure you've defined a range named "promptmonth" within the Active Workbook?

yep, i don't know why that didn't work, it looked like it should have. i tweaked the original formula until it worked though. thanks for your help.
