VB remove comma inside text field

I have a basic VB program that imports some old Fixed Width Text files into MS-Excel. It works ok until the "Description" field contains a comma. At that point the import starts a new line.

Is there any way to not read the comma as a line break or even skip over the comma field?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Does your text file use text qualifiers (like double-quotes) around these entries?

Can you post your VB code that does the importing?

Thanks the lengthy code is below. Its the ImportGL function

Could you also paste a few rows of the text file you are importing?
(Be sure to replace and sensitive information first).

Also, it looks like that Description is your 9th field (at least according to your header row).
However, on the import row, it does not look like you are importing anything into the 9th field.
Is that intentional? Did you remove or skip it?

I typically do not use that method to read in Text files (I usually import).
I did some testing, and found the following article: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/input-function-5a666c45-6048-405f-bdfe-c5209c45756d
Of particular note was this comment:
Unlike the Input # statement, the Input function returns all of the characters it reads, including commas, carriage returns, linefeeds, quotation marks, and leading spaces.
So, that seems to be saying that using "Input #" will not read in commas. So you might want to change how you are reading your data in.

I also found this article, which may be of interest to you: http://www.homeandlearn.org/open_a_text_file_in_vba.html
