Hi,
When creating a PT in excel 2007 it gets a name. When I want to use that name in a formula (like vlookup) it does not appear in the list of names and functions that is auto populated as I am typing my formula. How can I get that name without typing it?
Thanks,
Tamir

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
The pivot table name is useful in VBA, I don't know a way to reference a pivot name in a formula. Besides, formulas like VLOOKUP or SUMIF are problematic for all but the simplest pivots since not all row cells are filled in. You can usually have these formulas reference the original data instead of the pivot, but if you do want to extract data from a pivot, you can use the GETPIVOTDATA formula. I have found the need to do VLOOKUPs into pivots when the pivot is in a different workbook, since SUMIF and GETPIVOTDATA don't work on closed files. In those cases I limit the pivot to a single row label and address the cell range like any other cell reference.
