Hi,

I am quite new to Access (using XP) and I am having a couple of problems that hopefully someone here can help with.

1. When getting external data Access refuses to open txt files that do not have either a .csv, .txt, etc. extension. Unfortunately, my data is csv but has extensions such as s1a. Is there anyway I can get Access to accept these files without having to rename them all?

2. I have written a couple of functions (VBA) in Excel that i would now like to import into Access. Basically I would like to create a forth field that would contain a function of the first three. Is this possible?

Many thanks for your help,

Andy

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
1) I dont think so but you could probably use VBA to rename them for you or to make tempoary copies with the correct extension.

2) you can probably imoprt your functions but you may need to tweak things a bit as Access does things a bit differntly to Excel at times.
