Five Number Summary in Excel.
Using Excel to calculate a five number summary.
The easiest way to get these five numbers is just to enter three formulas, so the MIN, M-I-N, of everything, the MAX.
And for the numbers in the middle of the lower quartile, median and upper quartile, we can do that with equal quartile.
You can choose inclusive or exclusive, point to your array.
And we actually at this point want are the number is one through three, so the first quartile, median and third quartile.
The easy way to do that is just to ask sequence of three.
That'll give us one, two, three, close parenth, close parenth. And there you go.
Now it's kind of a hassle to do that in three.
You could use this LET function, so Let D, for data, equal your range and then V stack the min, the quartile with a sequence of three, and the max.
But if you really had to do this a lot, it'd be better to do a lambda function.
So here's a lambda function being tested. I'm going to copy this to the clipboard.
Formulas.
Define a name, we'll call it FiveSum, and it refers to this formula.
Click okay, and then here we'll test it out over here. Equal FiveSum of the numbers.
Wow, look at that.
