I am currently trying to set up user-rights for an access database. However everytime i try and click on the user-level security wizzard it is greyed out. I am opening it up in exclusive and i've already password protected the database. Can anyone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
What version of Access are you using and what type of file?

User level security was removed in 2010 for new file types (ACCD?). However was still included for backwards compatibility with the older (MDB) files.

As stumac pointed out, the built-in Access User Level Security works with the JET (.mdb) format only. It has been removed from the new Access 2007/2010/2013/2016 ACE (.accdb) format.

Since this feature has been dead for almost 10 years I would avoid using it. It is my understanding it was dropped because it had too many issues. And it was not worth any further development to make work since it was seldom used.

About the Password:
I would remove the password before you do anything. I would only add the password when you are done with development and ready to deploy. I would only add the password it to the copy you deploy and not the development/master version.

The password may be the issue. Try removing it.

Are you using Access 2000/2002/2003?

I would assume this is a multi user database if you need User Security.

See:

Splitting your Access database into application and data

Before you attempt to use the Access Security wizard is highly recommend reading this:

If you do decide to try the Access security wizard then do lots of learning and testing on a copy of your database. That way when it goes sideways and you lock yourself out, you can still recover.
