Hi
I thought VLOOKUP was the function I need but it appears not as there is no common data to reference in my sheets. What I need to do is copy data into my master sheet from other sheets using the Column Header to Retrieve Values from an Excel Table. This is because I only want to bring over certain columns and not all columns. Can clarify further if required. TIA[h=1][/h]

Hello John,

Do you mean that you want to transfer row data from non-continuos columns? For example, from Columns A, C, F, H, L etc. to the Master sheet rather than from continuous columns such as A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I etc.. Will you be using a criteria to determine which rows will need to be transferred?

To see what you are up to, it would be good if you could upload a sample of your work book to a free file sharing site such as Drop Box then post the link to your file back here. Please use dummy data in your sample and just use a few rows of data in the individual sheets. Please state clearly what you wish to achieve.

Cheerio,
vcoolio.

Yes add row data to the mastersheet based on the column header title in other sheets.
Note the columns may not be in the same order on tbe source sheets but the column names have matching titles

Hello John,

Ok, but could you still please upload a sample of your work book.

Would it matter if a potential code also included re-aligning all columns in all work sheets into the same order?

Cheerio,
vcoolio.

Thanks Nard.

@ John:

That's really disappointing. You obviously haven't read the forum rules.

Good luck in the other thread.

Firstly I guess I did not read the rules but i thought my question was different.

Secondly dont try and tell me off! You are not my Teacher and I am not your student! Do not label me dissapointing, you dont even know me. Seriously if you want to be a Teacher then "Go Teach" but do it with kindness and grace. If you want to "Police" then become a Policeman and serve your community not rule them.

You discredit this forum with you misplaced fascism

John,

You need to get your facts straight. There is no teaching and even if I were a Teacher, I certainly wouldn't want you as a student with your defensive "chip-on-the shoulder" attitude.

Nor am I a policeman, nor did I label you "disappointing". Expressing my personal disappointment at your disregard for the rules is hardly "telling you off" or policing.
you dont even know me.

Correct! Nor do you know me.

Your questions were exactly the same in both threads and you simply wasted my time (as well as that of others here) as a Volunteer here on this forum. I spent a few hours working on a solution for you whilst waiting for you to simply upload a sample of your work book, a simple request that you chose to ignore. As you would be aware, there are many Volunteers on this forum (and others) who give their time freely to help. There is no reward, financial or otherwise, for the help we offer. We simply like to help so please keep your sermons on fascism to yourself.

As for fascism, you really need to pull out your dictionary and educate yourself as to its meaning. Your quote:

You discredit this forum with you misplaced fascism

simply demonstrates that you know that you are wrong and can't admit it. No point venting steam through your ears just because you are wrong.

I'm sure that Nard will express his disappointment in the other thread also.

Just remember, you came here looking for help from us Volunteers. We did not solicit you. The rules are in place for a purpose so there is no point in assuming you can do as you please.

What's more, I'm sure that there are many Administrators, Moderators and Volunteers (let alone the countless Posters that your's truly has helped) here who would hardly think that I dis-credit this forum. They would more than likely frown upon Posters with your poor attitude towards those who would help them.
