Updating Cells Linked To Anouther Workbook

I have a workbook that has cells linked to data in another workbook. If I open and update the one workbook but the other stays open how do I get the cells to update? I tried Refresh All but it does nothing. Will I need to update and save then close the one workbook and then close and reopen the other to update the cells? Thanks

Could you please check to see if your calculation option is set to manual? If so, turn to automatic.

Its set to automatic but I would like to leave the workbook open all the time. The workbook the values will change will be opened, updated, saved and closed. The workbook the data is linked to will stay open on a large monitor and I would like to somehow update he new data and then save it without closing the workbook and reopening it. So far closing I and reopening has been the only way it update's. Thanks

I found the answer. I placed this macro in sheet 1 and hide a command button on the screen. It works great.
