Update Links to Specific Worksheet

I have a workbook with multiple worksheets that all contain similar data except each worksheet is for a specified date range. I want to allow a user of a separate spreadsheet (that contains links to the first spreadsheet) to update links and choose a specific worksheet within the the workbook. I've tried to do this by going to Edit, Links, Change Source but it only allows me to select a sheet if it's a new workbook. Any insight would be appreciated.
