Unusual Graph Formula

I have produced a graph in excel and drawn a polynomial trendline onto it expecting to get some sort of qudratic equation along the lines of y = a + bx + cx2. It still produced a quadratic but in a slightly different form: y = -2E+06x2 + 8E+06x + 1E+06. I want to solve the equation for x but I presume the usual quadratic formula is not applicable. Also why has it displayed 6 with a 0 before it? excel doesn't normally do this, and what is the value of E?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

8E+06 is just scientific notation for 8 million (8*10^6).

And since b^2 > 4ac here, I don't see why you say that the "usual quadratic formula is not applicable".
