Unrecognized database format ACWZUSRT.MDT

My workstation crashed and a new one has been installed with the same image. However, when I create a new, blank database and attempt to Import, or Link, a file, I get the following error after clicking "Advanced..." in the Link Text Wizard.

Unrecognized database format 'D:\...\...\Application Data\Microsoft\Access\ACWZUSRT.MDT'

Please note that I'm not trying to convert a database. I'm actually starting off with a blank slate and developing a database from scratch.
Also note that I've tried re-importing and re-linking files using previously saved data formats and I get the same error.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
I think an .MDT is a template; is that what the database is meant to be? If not, make a copy of it and change the extension to .MDB. See if it opens OK then.

EDIT: that file is used by the documentor. what version of Access are you running?

Hi, Denis--
Thank you for your response. I changed the file extension from *.MDT to *.MDB and the wizard seems to be working now. I'm not sure wny I had to change the extension of a system file after a fresh installation [Access 2003 (SP3)], but I'm in business now. Thanks again for the suggestion.
