Unprotect header in Word

Hello

I have a Word template that has been protected so as to allow filling in of form fields only. There is also a field in the header that I want users to complete, but I can't seem to make the header unprotected. I've tried putting in an unprotected section break at the begining of the document but that didn't seem to work.

My alternative was to have a fill-in field which would prompt the user to complete the field when it opens so not having to go into the actual header at all. My problem with this lies in the fact that the users won't always know immediately what to enter in this field. If they save the document and come back to it later when they do know what goes in the field then that prompt doesn't appear.

Many thanks!
