Undo and Redo

For as long as I can remember, it has always been possible to undo or redo an action prior to saving the file (except for 2007). However, undo and redo remain dimmed now unless a cell is open for editing.

I'm not aware of any option that allows a user to modify undo and redo functionality. Does anyone have a suggestion or fix?

Thanks.

I'm not sure I follow you, so try this and let us know what happens.

In any cell, type the number 2 and press enter.
Now click your Undo button. Did it clear the cell?

Now click your Redo button. Did it put the 2 back?

If yes, to both, then I guess I do not understand what you are saying.

What am saying is exactly that, using your scenario undo and redo remain dimmed and they cannot be used as you suggested, i.e. as Excel normally works.

I'm currently on 2007 and it works for me.

Do you have the Undo & redo arrows on your Quik Access Tolbar?

2007 is great, but as far as undo and redo are concerned the functionality should be identical in 2003 too (and it used to be, on this machine, that's the confusing part.) (And the arrows are available, the problem is they are dimmed (grayed) out so they aren't available.)

Thanks for the feedback. That may be the only option, I was just trying to avoid it by checking to see if anyone knew something about a fix that didn't involve a reinstall.

I would't jump to a Reinstall yet.

Give your question a few days first. Just keep bumping it up to the top after it fades to maybe the third or fourth page. Try in the mornings when around 500 members are on line. (USA) Someone will have an answer.
