Hi All,

Please can someone explain to me what "%ProgramFiles%" means... what are the "%" signs used for?

Are they some sort of wildcard?

Any help would be appreciated!

Ivan

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
It's more a generic way of calling those special folders. For example, in a spanish computer, that folder is likely to be called

\Archivos de Programa\

as opposed to

\Program Files\

now, if your program had to check each possible language it would get quite messy. So instead you can refer to %Program Files% and Windows will "translate" that to the correct folder.
