uncontrolled and sudden undos

I have a reoccurring problem; excel suddenly and in an uncontrolled fashion reverts a spreadsheet to a point where I was several minutes or hours ago. It seems to happen when I am do a copy/paste. Sometimes when I do a copy/paste the sheet suddenly “flashes” and I am back to where I was at some point earlier in the day. It is unpredictable, and so far unrecoverable. I compensate by saving often. When the “flash” happens I usually just close without saving and reopen the last saved version. I sometimes get the warning that there is a lot of information on the clip board. I was wondering if the two were related. Am I somehow loading too much information on to the clipboard and “crashing” the spreadsheet?? The last time the “flash” happened I was able to see the spreadsheet undo some of the work I had done, usually it happens too fast to see any changes but this last time I actually saw it reverting.

Do you have any event code in the workbook?

I don't know. there are no macros in that sheet. how can I tell if I any event code

should have mentioned the last time it happen I was actually in another sheet. I did a copy/paste in a very small spreadsheet and the next thing I knew I was back in a much bigger sheet (that I opened) and the undo was running amok

Right-click the worksheet tab, and choose View Code.

Thre might also be event code in the ThisWorkbook module of that workbook, or it could be an add-in that is messing things up - do you have any installed?

I did the right clicked and then hit View Code and went through all the tabs (including ThisWorkbook) and I don't see any code in the big center window. I do have some addins loaded Analysis ToolPak, Analysis ToolPak - VBA, Euro Currency Tools and Solver Add-in.

what do you think about the clipboard idea I mentioned on the first post, any connection?????

If you were crashing Excel, you'd see a load of messages about restarting and recovering workbooks. If you can, try running Excel in safe mode for a while (hold the Ctrl key while starting Excel normally) and do lots of copy/pasting and see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn't, then some startup file is causing the problem.
