Unblocking Macros

I am continually frustrated by Microsoft disabling macros which I use extensively in my workbooks.

Because I know the source of all spreadsheets I open, my settings macros settings are set to allow all macros. I have also tried to use the option of ticking the "Unblock" box in the file properties but this option is vary rarely available, and even when it is available, ticking this "Unblock" box still does not have any effect.

Does anyone have a solution to this please?
