I have a subform, that I am unable to update, and I think I know why, but don't know how to work around it.
The subform is based on a table and a query. They look like the following:
Table:
Plan Name (primary key)
Plan Type
Plan Contact
Query:
Plan Name (primary key)
Year (primary key)
Assets
They are linked together by Plan Name.
Now here is the problem. If the subfrom just pulls the information from the table, I am able to update the Plan Type and Plan Contact on the subform. However, once I link it to the query, I am unable to update any of the fields on this subform.
Now here is what I think the reasoning why is: The query is based on a table with the same records as shown in the query. The table has multiple records for each plan, for different years. Basically, what the query does is use the "Max" and "Last" Total Groupings to only return the most recent record for each plan.
I understand why I would be unable to update the fields from the query in the subform, but find it curious that I can no longer update the fields from the table above, like Plan Type and Plan Contact. Does linking it to the query essentially make all the fields on the subform unable to be updated? How do I get around this to allow users to update these two fields on the subform?
Thanks.
