Unable to unhide multiple sheets

Good morning/afternoon to all. A little Jeopardy: I know the answer that will explode from the gracious audience is "Unprotect your workbook".

So, I'm in Excel 2010. The author claims he didn't use VBA, but the fact is that there is a hidden sheet whose tab I cannot see. So, in VBA, when I try to change the Visible character on the sheet in question, I get the dreaded "Unable to set the Visible property of the Worksheet class" slap on the noggin. Now, this is where the thick plottens - back to Jeopardy - unless I am grotesquely missing something, the workbook is not protected (File-Review-Changes actively shows radio buttons to protect the current sheet and the workbook), not to unprotect it.

Any further hints will earn you my lasting admiration
Regards
John
ps: I know VERY little about VBA

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
go into vba, hit CTRL + G and in the window type:

Sheets("INSERTSHEETNAMEHERE").visible = true

see if that works

To get into the VBA window hit ALT + F11.

You can also get to the window needed by selecting VIEW > Immediate Window instead of hitting CNTRL + G

Thanks. I get the message "Run-time error 1004: Unable to set the visible Property of the worksheet class". Just for thrills, I tried entering the worksheet name without quotes, and I got "Run-time error 9: Subscript out of Range"

Unfortunately your first comment is probably applicable. It seems the workbook or worksheet might be protected.

Beyond what we've tried I don't know what else can be done. Can you reach out to the previous author and ask?

As a last resort, you can always try to find a password ******* on the web and see if it works, but that's dangerous as a lot of them contain viruses.

As a LAST LAST resort, copy everything into a new workbook and start from scratch.

Sorry I can't help more. best of luck.
