Unable to type in message box when creating a new topic with Firefox 3.5.7. Works in IE.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.8 w/o any problems (don't recall any problems when using 3.5.7 either). I know that doesn't help you at all, but at least it's not a browser issue, just something on your end...which actually makes you 0% closer to solving your issue than when I started...
 
Try disabling any installed extensions one by one, see if one of those may be affecting it.
