Unable to Tab from unlocked merged cells to any other unlocked cell

Hello.

I apologize if this question has been asked. I tried to locate any threads pertaining to my issue but could not locate what I was looking for specifically, but I could have overlooked any that were posted.

I have a locked worksheet with several unlocked cells. Some of the cells are merged. The first few unlocked cells are single cells and when I tab there is no issue tabbing through those particular cells; however, when I reach the cells that are merged it will not allow me to tab to any other unlocked cell.

I really need these cells to be merged, for example, A13 & A14 are merged and cells B13 - I13 and cells B14 - I14 is not; however, the data from those unmerged cells are associated with the merged A13 & A14 cells.

I tried unmerging them, ensured they were not locked, remerged them and verified they were not locked. I tried locking and unlocking them.

I know I have had worksheets similar to this before and I do not recall having this issue so I am thinking that I am overlooking something, probably obvious. I am using Excel 2016. Any help will be appreciated.

And if I may, I have another issue that is Mac related. My office computer is Windows 7 Professional. The same worksheet with the issue noted above does have macros enabled. When I email it to my home computer, which is a Mac, I am unable to unlock the macros. The version of Office on my Mac is 2011.

Thank you,

Galtin

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
Do you have any event macros like a Worksheet_Change event procedure?

As a test, if you unmerge the cells, can you then tab through the same previously merged cells when the sheet is protected?

No, I do not believe that I have any event macros like a Worksheet_Change event procedure.

Yes, unmerging and protecting the sheet I can tab through those particular cells with no issues.

I don't know what the problem is.

Can you mouse click on the merged cells when the sheet is protected?

The only way I can duplicate the problem is when one of the merged cells is still locked. Then it won't tab to the entire merged area. I know you said you checked that all the merged cells are unlocked. You may want to double-check one more time.

I can mouse click on the merged cells when the sheet is protected.

I tried locking and unlocking when they were unmerged and then again merged as suggested. Still, have the issue.

I failed to state this before but I didn't think it would have any effect; however, the two merged cells is also a drop-down menu - would that matter?

I tested it with a Data Validation drop down list in the Merged cells. I can tab to it.

When you protect the sheet, is there any other option(s) checked other than Select Unlocked Cells on the protect dialog?

Can you unmerge the cells and OK the format cells dialog. Then re-enter the format cells dialog and unlock cells, and OK. Then re-enter again and merge. So you are OKing the dialog for each change.

No, there are no other options checked in the protection tab of the Format Cells box.

I tried the unmerging, okaying, merging, okaying in the format cells dialog. Still the same issue.
