Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
for some reason I can not ask my question the forum website continues to cut off my line of data

put spaces before and after the "<" in your formula, regardless of which way they are facing.

Perhaps this:

=IF(CA18<>"",IF(CA18<BY18,"YES","NO"),"")
