Hello,

I am working with an 80-120 meg file in excel. Almost everytime I open it (maybe everytime>??) I see a message in the bottom right hand corner of the screen that says "requested virus scan" I think this is really really slowing down the file opening up. Is there anyway to shut this off? Is this an excel function or my Anti-Virus Software??

Thanks

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
I'm pretty sure you can select off for specific apps using Norton. Not sure which AntiV you are using? I had the same problem some time ago and was able to switch it off but can't remember how. Look into you AV documentation.

Judo,

I agree with Jacks general recommendation but I also handle some very large files which are painful to load due to scanning.

My solution is to temporarily exclude xls-files in the scanning (Nortan AV 2002) and then reset it after closing the actual workbook.

Yes, the files are "trusted" since I´ve created them by myself

Kind regards,
Dennis

I wasn't suggesting that the OP turn off his AV, note "Specific Apps" just as Dennis noted.

Hi

Im sticking with my remarks, and highlighlight XLDennis comments to allow ONE file to run if TRUST source, would be exceptable from techi backgroung

Macro virus in Excel are not that bad!! and easy stamped out if they pop up. No other real threat in Excel docs really once on system
HOWEVER IF ITS EMAIL ____ DELETE IT KILL IT!! as thats a different conversation

PS Norton im my view causes issues and is poor and weak

I have the chance to play with W32CIH95 virus and the first files it infected was norton and ???? eh!!! even the quarenteened files were nasty and spread, ever since them my copy ended in the bin.

Just a persinal experiance but ALL other nortin software i personally think is wonderful!
