Trying to compare two columns with text and number

Is it possible to compare the numbers in text and say if column A is Up or down from column B.
(Class 1 is better than class 2).

How about
Excel Formula:
=LET(a,RIGHT(A1,2),b,RIGHT(B1,2),IF(a=b,"",IF(a>b,"down","up")))
