Hi there,

I'm trying to split a list of alpha numeric location references as shown in cell A1 into two distinct references that I require, as shown in cells B1 & C1.

Can anyone assist?

Any help would be grateful and I can tell my team off for not collecting the data properly in the first place!

Regards

Ben

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Hi, shouldn't the C1 result be "L7"?

If so, one option might be..

Excel 2013/2016
ABC
1AGP17.24 - L7AGP17.24L7
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B1=LEFT(A1,FIND("−",A1)-1)
C1=MID(A1,FIND("−",A1)+1,255)
