Hi Everyone,

I have a table that I want to be able to view with the field headings down the left of the screen and the records listed next to each other rather than below each other.

I want to be able to edit this data in this format.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Natalie.

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Unless I'm mistaken, I think it can't be done. Access thinks down, not across. If you set up a crosstab to see months across the screen, for example, the data cannot be edited in that format.

Do you have a particular need to see records across, rather than down?
Give us some more details of what you need and we may be able to suggest an alternative.

Thanks for your reply Denis,

The main reason I want to list across rather than down is for aesthetics.

I have a list of questions that I want to list down the left that are up to 50 char long and the answers are only up to 4 digits, so it is a great waste of space to list them across the top.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi Natalie, something like...

Code:
Question Answers...
Some humungously long query goes in here
Another long and descriptive question
And what about this one with all the characters?

Except you want all the respondents to line up neatly across the top.
If that's the case, you may need to build a one-to-many relationship to handle it.
Respondents MANY --- ONE Survey Answers ONE --- MANY Survey Questions
Then build a main form based on Respondents, with a subform based on Survey Answers and linked to the main form via RespondentID.
For each person who answers the survay you get a new record on top with a new set of responses below. The subform can be in Continuous or Datasheet format, to give the look you want, but it will only have one answer for each question.
That's the data entry: To view the overall result you can build a crosstab with questions down the side and collated answers across the top.
