TRACK changes and PIVOT tables

I am trying to track changes in a complex workbook with pivot tables and macros. This worked fine on a basic trail, but when used on the complex spreadsheet and we tried to print , we got a run time error 1004 - you cannot create or make changes to PIVOTTABLE reports in a shared workbook. Does this mean this function will not work? I am looking to use the history report to review changes that have been made.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Hi; Welcome!

More information may be in order.
What is the tracking function doing?
Are the changes logged into Excel or a log/txt file?
If Excel, is it logged to the same file as the operating file or another workbook altogether?
Is the PivotTable relative to the reporting of changes, or relative to the operation of the workbook?

There may be alternate approaches to attain the desired result.

many thanks. The TRACK changes is the excel tool, whereby you switch the tracking on and can then get a histroy report of changes made.
The changes are made in an excel workbook e.g. change the price of a security/ add a new line. This works fine on a simple excel file. But the one we use has pivot tables and macros included in the workbook. When we switched tracking on it worked fine until we wanted to print and got the error. We turned the excel tracking off and printing worked fine. I am thinking this is just to complex a workbook for excel tracking. Thank you for your time.
