A
single pair of ****roaches can produce 164 billion offspring
in seven months if there are no restraints on population
growth

how many generations per day would a ****roach go through, if each pair of ****roaches produced another pair?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
ok, I already figured it out.

The structure is

2^x = 164 * 10^9

or

log (2) 164 * 10^9 = x

The answer is 37, so every 37 days the cochroaches will reproduce themselves which isn't extremely astonishing.

It's not every 37 days. You're raising 2 to the power of 37 (and a bit), so there are 37 periods of reproduction. So you need to divide 7 months by 37, which is 5.7 days.
