Top of the Pops?

I have an access database that has the name of clients say 100 clients and the value they owe £/$. I need to get a list which shows the top 60% of the clients who owe the most.

I cant use the Top Values button as this will just give me the the wrong list..
If I have 100 customers and I select 60% of the TOP value, it will give 60% of the total number of clients - 60 and not the clients that owe 60% of the total!

As one client could owe more then 60% of the total or two clients..

can any one help?

Edit ( hit wrong button)The Top 60% will give you the top 60 records out of 100 in decending order of the sorted field.

I am after the customers that have the highest owed values that adds up to 60% of the total.

I don't think that you can do this in a query. It may be possible to do it in a report using a running total. It is probably easiest to use code to create a table with justyou top 60% but it will not be dynamic and will need updating before use each time.

Do you want to round up or down for the 60%? ie;-
Cust A owes 42%
Cust B owes 38%
Do include Cust B or not?

How about a draw?

Cust A owes 50%
Cust B owes 10%
Cust C owes 10%
Cust D owes 10%

Just Show A, Show all or cut off arbitarily at 60%?
