I wrote a risk analysis application in Excel that programmatically creates various charts. The charts have logos and other graphical elements. If I try to create too many charts (40 - 70 but varies) I get a 1004 error. I've read that there was a problem with the number of fonts in Excel '97, but I'm using Excel XP. How can I get around the errors? Do I have to split the charts up into seperate workbooks, or save, close, and reopen them for more writing? I've disabled auto-scaling on the fonts after reading that this can eat up more font resources.
Help please before my last few hairs are gone.

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
The 1004 error is a pain until you get to know it. It's a nice specific non-specific error message. I don't think too many fonts is your problem, I think there may be a problem in your code. If you could post a sample of it that would be helpful.

When too many charts are created, I get a 1004 Error (I'm quite familiar with them unfortunately) that reads:

"Unable to set the size property of the font class"

If I try to save the workbook full of the charts, I get this message:

"No more new fonts may be applied in this workbook".

I am pretty sure that the font resources are the problem here.

"Do I have to split the charts up into seperate workbooks"

Yes, if you want to keep all the fonts.
