I have inserted a formula and I'm not getting the right answer.

Cell D, F and H have the time I clock-in and E, G, and I when I clock-out. This is the formula I used =((E19-D19)+(G19-F19)+(I19-H19)) so it would be ((8:45-8:00)+(13:00-12:00) +(19:00-17:00)) to equal the hours worked. It should be 3.75 hours but the formula returns .16. I tried removing the outside paren =(E19-D19)+(G19-F19)+(I19-H19) and it didn't make a difference. I thought perhaps I had the order of the cells reversed but that isn't it either.

.16 is the numerical equivalent to 3:45. To get 3.75, multiply by 24

So I just add *24 at the end of the equation?

Yes. 3.75 is ~16% of one day. That's what the .16 means. Anything after the decimal is a part of a day.
