I have hours and minutes in a cell in the h:mm format. For example, 1 hour and 9 minutes appears as 1:09. I would like the cell to show total minutes, such as 69 minutes. How can I do this?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
A1: 1:09 - format: (h:mm)
B1: =A1*1440 - format: (number with no decimals), result: 69
