I am struggling getting hours and minutes out of a database tracking phone usage. The fields are set to date/time format and using "Short Time". Some fields are HH:MM and some are MM:SS. The problem initially is that we need to calculate the sum of hours and minutes over a period of days. It is returning the result in a decimal format. How can we turn this decimal format into hours and minutes?

Try 24 times the value. Or rather 24*60 times the value. Isn't it a fraction of a day for the numeric?
Also keep cdate() in mind, although it sounds like it's not exactly what you're asking for in this particular problem.
