the old days...

Hi all,

I haven't been here all that long, but I think back wistfully to the days when I used to check out the Excel forum, and see 3 or 4 zero reply questions I actually knew. Now when I look, everything is either answered(which is great), or I have no clue what they're talking about. Or the question is so long and specific I don't have time to sit there and figure out what they're trying to say. I'm not griping, this is really great, just an observation.

So...I am very pleased that we have a new forum(Access), and I have a chance to try to help some people before all the gurus show up and steal the show!

I have no idea what my point is, but that it has been interesting to watch this forum grow and develop over the months.

This is truly a great online community!

blessings,

Hi,

Nice post. You made some good points.

I think it is a credit to this board that the number of posters with considerable Excel skills keeps increasing. The "old days" (funny choice of term) had the quality; now its quality and quantity, so to speak.

It is also a credit to the board that the "newbies" have developed as well and are asking more difficult questions now. They ask, learn, and have graduated beyond the really easy questions.

I believe that the general level of an "average" question has risen a bit. Of course, many posts *could* be better written and we still have too many unhelpful subject lines, but overall I think the level of competence on the board is rising.
