Will Excell ever be able to handle more than 65,000 records, and why not?

(Is it because Microsrft will not be able to sell databases?)

Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Have you tried using Access? Where large lists are involved, I almost always use Access.

Yup,

I'm using Access. I hate it. I LOVE excel.

I just did an access query 5 minutes ago against two 300,000 record tables and the result is a 104,00 records.

Just think of the data shaping I could do with that 104,000 records in excel!

Instead, I have to screw around with endless queries and fumble with the builder until I get what I HOPE is the right data.

I like excell way more. I will use an external data query to break up the access data at the user level.

If your query returned 104k records then I'd say it worked exactly how you specified it. Whether or not it represented what you wanted is another story... :lol:

To get the most out of Access you almost need to forget everything you have learned with Excel and effectively start again, but that is just my opinion.

I do this sort of thing routinely - getting data from Access to Excel with pivot tables. I have one workbook that analyses a total of 1 million records in various ways - with the final file under 4 megabytes.

Yup,

I do a lot of pivot tables in excel. Mostly just to consolidate stats. I sort of do what your describing by using a crosstab query in acess.

The problem I have is that 1.6 million records are uniqe and I need to query against all of them with another table with 250thousand records.
