The cell doesn't identify the date in it unless typed again.

I've set the format of the column as "date" to be able to filter easily.
But it's forcing me to type each cell again so that it's identified as date.
The file is generated using company's program database, and i'm trying to filter it by date

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
freeware / commercially available programme called ASAP utilities can change unrecognised numbers text to numbers. If you have a formula in the right column you are showing and if in col C you type =ISNUMBER(A1) and it comes back as false then you could use a double minutes. OK just prove the left column is too big to be a date

Try selecting the column, Data tab, Text to Columns, click Next twice, check that the General checkbox is checked and click Finish.
