text field

I have a field in excel with a value of 2,5 barg. I want a column next to it that it shows only 2,5. How can I with a formula remove the barg.
Is this possible thanks.

Is it always a value of "#,# barg"?

=LEFT(A2,FIND("barg",A2)-1)

where A2 contains the string.

you can use

=left(cellnum,3) if it is always #,# as john said

if not you can use

=mid(cellnum,1,(len(cellnum) - 5)))

both untested but the theory is right

So sometimes 20.8 barg or 1 barg or 0.55 barg.
So I want in the text field that barg can be removed someway.

The formula I suggested doesn't care the size of the string before Barg:

=LEFT(A2,FIND("barg",A2)-1)


if you want to convert it to numerical...use

=LEFT(A2,FIND("barg",A2)-1)+0
