Hi all,

I finally convinced our IT department to allow me a laptop upgrade, in order to smoothly run PowerPivot&Query. The ask me now to make a suggestion about what it is I need, and motivate it.

I am aware I wil need a 64bit OS + Office.

Could somebody help me to motivate my hardware requirement? What should I focus on and why, how will it influence the performance of my Power reports.

Processor/Ram memory (specific type?)/other specs I should focus on but overlook?

Thx in advance!
Regards,
Juan

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
In run it on a pretty crappy laptop... just fine :) The only thing I can really say here is that... # of cores... is not a terribly useful metric in this world. Fast memory helps, and fast cpu helps. And make sure you have enough memory (as running out of memory is deadly in power pivot).
