My name is Tom Farmer
I am a High School Math teacher.
What I really need is a software package that will allow me to instantly email selected parents with pre-scripted emails.
For example: At the end of Period 1, I pull up a screen that has a list of students and a list of comments (ex: Dear parent, your child failed to turn in their math homework today).
I should be able to click a few selected students in the main window and the appropriate comment (in multiple languages) and hit "send", instantly communicating with the parents.
As you may know, parent communication is identified as one of the top ways to influence student behavior. It is also either one of the most time consuming tasks a teacher has, or the thing that he or she is criticized the most for not doing. Either way this software has been a long time coming.
It seems as though this type of software would be a no brainer. But, I have looked at a variety of different school software programs, and I haven't been able to find anything like it.
I would very much like to hear what you have to say about this idea. Could you please reply and-or refer me to a developer who might like to take on this project? I would be happy to consult on this project as well, if you have a need.
I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Tom Farmer
