Tally marks in excel

Hi,
Can we count number of tally marks in excel a row or column and display the sum of all?

I agree, but in that thread we were adding the tally marks (with the aid of conditional formatting). Here, the tally marks are already there so I was trying to elicit whether they were
- done with certain characters,
- manual formatting,
- Conditional Formatting based on some other cell perhaps,
- vba code
- something else
