Amateur question:

How do I get rid of the standard, border-free, grid lines in my spreadsheet even though they don't appear when I print? Thanks.

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
xl2003 or below:

Tools>options>View tab and uncheck Gridlines

xl2007:

View Ribbon and uncheck Gridlines in the Show/Hide section

is there a way to do this for specific tables/charts within a spreadsheet instead of removing the gridlines from the whole spreadsheet?

It only applies it to the currently activesheet when you uncheck the settings (or at least that's how it seems to me) - is it doing something different for you?
