I am on Chapter 5 in the Pivot Table Data Crunching book. This is a book with good information and at the same time one of the most frustrating books I have ever come across due to the vagueness of it's instructions on exercises. The Case Study starting on page 124 instructs the reader to create a Pivot Table to include Revenue Last Year and Forecast Next Year but does not inform the reader how to create the Forecast Next Year field or what to base it on. There are no sample datasets specified for this particular chapter, but I am one of the datasets from a previous chapter, although they are slightly different. I actually bought ten of these books to teach a class tomorrow (on short notice). I am glad there is so much good material to use for the class, but again I wish the author would communicate better with his instructions.
So, how do you create the Forecast Next Year field? If I don't hear back from anyone quickly, I am just going to base it on 8% of last year's revenue.
